Heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours has created flood-like conditions in parts of Chhattisgarh, as the Kharun River’s rising waters have led to significant waterlogging, disrupting daily life in the Raipur and Durg districts. Many roads have been submerged, and water has inundated homes in low-lying areas, challenging residents and impacting normal activities.
The road connecting Raipur, Patan, and Durg through Mahadev Ghat has been particularly affected, resulting in traffic disruptions. The Raipur-Bhilai route via Mahadev Ghat also faces severe waterlogging, complicating travel in the region. The situation has become dire in riverside villages such as Amleshwar and Khudmuda in the Durg district, where strong water flow and submerged roads have made movement difficult.
Further rainfall and thunderstorms are forecasted for the region, raising concerns about ongoing water accumulation in vulnerable low-lying and riverside areas. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as they brace for additional challenges posed by expected weather conditions.
