Union Home Minister Amit Shah underscored the significant advancements in Uttar Pradesh’s defence manufacturing sector during the inauguration of the UP International Trade Show held in Greater Noida. Shah highlighted that the BrahMos missiles produced in the state are creating strategic concerns for neighboring Pakistan, likening it to causing “sleepless nights.”
The minister emphasized the influx of investments into the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor, which comprises six key nodes: Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Lucknow, Agra, Aligarh, and Kanpur. He spotlighted the BrahMos Integration and Testing Facility in Lucknow, operational since May 2025, and the production of AK-203 assault rifles in Amethi as testaments to the state’s expanding capabilities in defence manufacturing. The BrahMos facility, established with an investment of approximately ₹300 crore over nearly 200 acres, focuses on the assembly, integration, and testing of the supersonic cruise missiles, with its first batch completed in October 2025.
Shah also noted that Uttar Pradesh’s improving law-and-order situation and burgeoning industrial base are pivotal in attracting investments. He commended the state’s “One District, One Product” initiative, which is fostering local industry growth and creating employment opportunities, thereby benefiting the youth of the state.
The UP International Trade Show 2026, taking place from September 25 to 29, serves as a platform for a diverse array of participants, including manufacturers, MSMEs, exporters, artisans, startups, investors, and international buyers, to converge and showcase their innovations and products.
