Trump Unaware of Reports Suggesting Possible US Strike on Iran This Weekend

U.S. President Donald Trump stated he was unaware of any plans for a military strike against Iran this weekend, responding to comments made by U.S. Ambassador to Türkiye, Tom Barrack. Trump, speaking to reporters in Florida on Friday, denied knowledge of such plans following Barrack’s suggestion that an attack could be imminent.

Ambassador Barrack had indicated during an interview on Friday that a U.S. military action could potentially occur as early as the weekend. However, he stressed that President Trump was still open to diplomatic solutions and that discussions with Iran had been ongoing for months. Barrack clarified that the United States was not aiming for regime change in Iran, but rather focused on addressing security concerns while keeping diplomatic channels open.

The remarks come amid escalating tensions between the United States, Israel, and Iran. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has consistently called for the removal of Iran’s clerical leadership, criticizing Tehran for policies he perceives as threats to Israeli security. Netanyahu has also asserted that Israel will continue its efforts to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

The conflicting statements from Trump and Barrack add a layer of uncertainty to the U.S. approach towards Iran, as diplomatic efforts persist alongside fears of potential military escalation in the Middle East. The situation remains fluid, with ongoing negotiations contrasted by the possibility of military confrontation.
