Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between China and India, urging both nations to maintain the positive momentum in their bilateral relations. This statement came during his meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, highlighting the necessity for both countries to work closely on various fronts.
Wang Yi suggested that China and India should increase high-level exchanges and broaden their cooperation in trade, media, cultural, and people-focused interactions. By managing sensitive issues through dialogue, both nations can ensure stability in their relations. Furthermore, he called for closer collaboration on regional and international matters, underscoring the need for China and India to promote multipolarity and advocate for the interests of developing countries.
The Chinese foreign minister also reassured India of Beijing’s support in hosting the upcoming BRICS summit, emphasizing the importance of enhanced collaboration within the expanded BRICS framework. This support aims to strengthen ties and foster a cooperative spirit between the two major Asian powers.
From the Indian side, Jaishankar reiterated India’s commitment to fostering a positive and cooperative relationship with China. He reaffirmed India’s longstanding policy positions concerning Taiwan and Xizang (Tibet), asserting India’s respect for China’s sovereignty. This declaration reflects India’s intent to sustain and improve relations with its neighbor.
