Pralhad Joshi has assumed the additional role of India’s Education Minister, marking the beginning of his tenure by evaluating significant education initiatives and the rollout of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. After taking office at Kartavya Bhavan in New Delhi, Joshi engaged with senior officials from the Departments of School Education and Higher Education to gain insight into the ministry’s current efforts.
In his new capacity, Joshi acknowledged that education is an unfamiliar territory for him and noted that he requires time to fully comprehend the ministry’s scope before making any detailed remarks. He emphasized the importance of understanding the department’s operations and pledged to maintain the momentum of key educational programs.
The responsibility was conferred upon Joshi following the acceptance of former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation by President Droupadi Murmu. Joshi expressed his commitment to the role, highlighting the trust placed in him by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to oversee the education portfolio.
As he embarks on this new journey, Joshi’s focus remains on continuity and enhancement of major educational strategies, reflecting his dedication to adapting to the new challenges and responsibilities that come with the position.
