Tensions flared in the Lok Sabha when Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition, accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of authorizing the use of force against students protesting the NEET paper leak. Gandhi’s allegation that pellet guns were used on students at the highest level sparked immediate and strong reactions from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In response, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju demanded that Gandhi provide evidence to back up his claims. Rijiju labeled the accusations as unfounded and called for the remarks to be expunged from the official record. Additionally, he urged Gandhi to issue an apology, emphasizing that such serious allegations should not be made without substantial proof.
The situation escalated further when Gandhi criticized the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) using terms that Speaker Om Birla deemed “unparliamentary.” As a result, those remarks were removed from the parliamentary proceedings. The heated exchange highlighted the ongoing political discord linked to the NEET paper leak issue, contributing to the tension between the two major political parties.
