The Delhi government is set to embark on a comprehensive welfare and infrastructure initiative, dubbed Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan, beginning September 17, as unveiled by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. This campaign is designed to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service and will see the inauguration and foundation-laying of projects valued at approximately ₹13,800 crore across the capital city.
A central element of the programme is a large-scale blood donation camp, scheduled for September 17, with an ambitious target of collecting 2,500 units. Additionally, the campaign will promote organ donation and conduct health camps specifically tailored for senior citizens. The initiative also includes a variety of welfare activities such as blood donation camps, health check-ups, and sanitation and Yamuna-cleaning drives, alongside registration camps for government welfare schemes across all 70 assembly constituencies.
During the campaign, significant focus will be placed on the Yamuna, with projects worth around ₹8,000 crore anticipated to be launched. Furthermore, over 4,000 Anganwadi and ASHA workers will be recognized for their contributions. The initiative will extend to educational institutions, engaging students and young people from approximately 5,000 schools in activities including painting and speech competitions, as well as an innovation challenge aimed at generating ideas for a developed India.
The Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan will also see an array of infrastructure projects taking shape. These include ₹8,000 crore in works by the Delhi Jal Board, ₹2,800 crore in projects by the Public Works Department (PWD), ₹1,500 crore in the power sector, ₹365 crore dedicated to irrigation and flood control, and ₹77 crore in tourism-related projects. This extensive programme reflects the government’s broad commitment to enhancing public welfare and infrastructure.
Overall, this month-long campaign promises to catalyze significant developments across Delhi, not only in infrastructure but also in community welfare, with a particular emphasis on health, education, and environmental initiatives.
