After Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a selfie-style video celebrating the passage of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, he has faced criticism from opposition voices. The bill is hailed by Modi as a significant move towards establishing a trustworthy examination system, with the Prime Minister committing to rigorous actions against what he termed the “paper mafia.”
However, Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), was quick to respond with criticism. Taking to social media, Dipke not only mocked Modi’s appearance in the video but also questioned the effectiveness of implementing stricter laws as a solution to the persistent issue of exam paper leaks.
Dipke and the CJP argue that the new legislation is more focused on punishing offenders rather than addressing the root causes of paper leaks. They emphasize the need for structural reforms and increased transparency within the examination process, suggesting that the current approach might not prevent future incidents effectively.
The CJP has further advocated for changes within the National Testing Agency (NTA) to enhance the security and integrity of public examinations. They believe that these reforms, rather than merely tougher penalties, are essential to creating a fair and reliable exam system.
