Digital Audit Initiated as Temple Trust Accepts Rai’s Resignation in Theft Case

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust has formally accepted the resignations of its General Secretary, Champat Rai, and trustee Anil Mishra amidst an investigation into alleged embezzlement involving donations meant for the Ram Mandir. Trust treasurer Govind Giri confirmed that the resignations were consistent with the trust’s constitution, underscoring the contributions Champat Rai made since the trust’s formation. This decision comes at a time when the trust is under scrutiny for financial discrepancies during the counting of the temple donations.

Senior trust member Pankaj Jaiswal expressed his disappointment, describing the situation as both painful and shameful, and emphasized that any misappropriation involving devotees’ contributions cannot be tolerated. In response to the current challenges, Krisha Mohan has been appointed as the interim General Secretary, while Govind Giri will continue his role as treasurer. This leadership change aims to maintain the trust’s integrity while addressing the allegations.

The trust is scheduled to reconvene on July 22, by which time the ongoing investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is expected to deliver its final report. Govind Giri has stated emphatically that the trust will not shield anyone found guilty of wrongdoing and has committed to ensuring that those involved will face legal repercussions, irrespective of their position within the trust.

As part of the investigation into the alleged donation theft, eight individuals have been arrested. The investigation continues as authorities seek to uncover the full extent of the irregularities. The trust’s commitment to transparency and accountability has been reiterated, with assurances that no stone will be left unturned in bringing the culprits to justice.
